Where Apple Voice Memos is better
- It is free, already on your iPhone and needs no setup.
- It syncs through iCloud and works on iPad and Mac.
- It supports more languages than Hushdo will at launch.
- If you only want a recording and a readable transcript, it is enough.
Where Hushdo is different
- It does the sorting. You say a ramble and get a dated task list, not just text to read through. See voice to do list.
- It works on Android too. One app and one habit across both phones.
- The privacy is checkable. Hushdo has no server for your audio, and the models it downloads are verified against a public signed list.
- Ask my memory. Ask a question in plain words and see which note the answer came from.
Can I use both?
Yes. Many people keep Voice Memos for recordings and meetings, and use Hushdo for the quick “get it out of my head” notes that need to become tasks. For that use, see brain dump app.
Questions
Is Hushdo better than Apple Voice Memos?
They do different things. Voice Memos is a free recorder with transcripts. Hushdo pulls tasks and dates out of what you say and also runs on Android.
Does Apple Voice Memos make a to-do list?
Voice Memos gives you a recording and a transcript. It is not built to turn a ramble into a task list; Hushdo is.
Is Hushdo as private as Apple Voice Memos?
Hushdo processes audio and notes on your phone and has no server that receives them. Apple says transcription runs on the device for supported languages. Both are private in that sense; Hushdo also publishes its model list for checking.
Do I need Voice Memos to use Hushdo?
No. Hushdo is its own app and does not depend on Voice Memos.
